In the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 11, there is a beautiful expression of rest and abiding and allowing. In Eugene Peterson’s rendering from the original language into modern day idiom, he offers the above words in his translation of this passage. In this passage Christ offers the following, “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
