Greetings and welcome!

I am Tom Steward, a Licensed Psychotherapist that has worked in the mental health field since 1982. I provide counseling and psychotherapy to clients of all ages, providing healing services that blend traditional psychotherapy, energy psychology, and functional medicine to help you reach optimal health and wellbeing.

I have a private practice in Los Alamos, New Mexico, and I also see clients in British Columbia, specifically on Vancouver Island.

Welcome

Something brought you here. A book, perhaps, or an essay someone forwarded you. A conversation with a friend. Or simply a question you have been carrying for a while now without quite finding the words for it. Whatever it was, I am glad you came.

I am Tom Steward. I have worked in the mental health field since 1982, and after all these years I am still surprised by how much there is to learn about the human heart — and by how willing people are, when given a little room, to tell the truth about their own lives.

The Work

I am a licensed psychotherapist in private practice in Los Alamos, New Mexico, and I also see clients in British Columbia. My work blends traditional psychotherapy with energy psychology, contemplative practice, and functional medicine — not as a row of techniques laid end to end, but as one attempt to meet a person whole. Body, mind, and spirit are not separate departments. They have never behaved as though they were.

Much of what I do comes down to helping people find the structures underneath their lives: the old agreements, the inherited patterns, the loyalties they never consciously chose. These things are quieter than we expect and more durable than we would like. But they can be seen. And once they are seen, they can change.

I write most weeks. Some of it is teaching, some of it is reflection, and some of it is simply what happens when a song or a passage of scripture will not leave me alone. It is free to read, and you are welcome to it.

The Coherence Circle

On Thursday evenings a small group gathers to meditate and to study together — in person at the Unitarian Church and by Zoom for those farther afield. We move slowly, a chapter at a time. Newcomers are welcome.
